Box Elder Bug Control

How We Stop the Fall Invasion For Good.

Green Gator box elder bug treatment

Box elder bugs aren't dangerous, they're a numbers problem. When the weather cools, they swarm sunny south- and west-facing walls by the hundreds, then squeeze inside to overwinter in your walls and attic.

Once they're inside the walls, there's no easy fix, which is why timing matters. The real win is treating the outside of your home before they cluster, so they never get in to begin with.

We've figured out exactly how to outsmart them on the Wasatch Front, where they gather, how they get in, and when to treat. When you're ready to stop the fall invasion, give us a call.

Know Your Enemy

Overwintering Pests We Treat

Box elder bugs are the headliner, but they show up alongside a whole crew of Utah "occasional invaders" that swarm walls in fall and overwinter indoors. We treat them all the same way, from the outside in.

Box Elder Bug

Black with bright red-orange lines. Gathers by the hundreds on warm south- and west-facing walls in fall, then slips inside to overwinter.

Elm Seed Bug

A Utah specialty, small, dark, and famous for the foul smell when crushed. Invades homes in huge numbers through the warm months.

Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

Shield-shaped and smelly. Clusters on sunny walls in fall and works its way indoors through any gap it can find.

Asian Lady Beetle

Looks like a ladybug but swarms homes in fall and stains surfaces. Overwinters in wall voids and attics.

Cluster Fly

Slow, sluggish flies that gather in attics and warm upper rooms to overwinter, then reappear on warm winter days.

Boxelder & Maple Trees

Box elder bugs breed on female box elder, maple, and ash trees. Nearby host trees mean bigger fall pressure on your home.

Sunny Walls & Eaves

South- and west-facing walls, eaves, and window frames soak up afternoon sun, exactly where these bugs gather before pushing inside.

Entry Points

Gaps around windows, doors, soffits, and utility penetrations are the highways these pests use to get into your walls.

Our Box Elder Bug Process

We Do Not Just Spray and Leave.

The whole game is keeping them outside. Here's how we treat and seal before the invasion starts.

STEP 1

Full Property Inspection

We identify the warm, sunny walls where bugs are gathering, the host trees driving the pressure, and the gaps they're using to get inside.

STEP 2

Eave & Exterior Wall Treatment

We treat the eaves, soffits, and sunny south- and west-facing walls where box elder bugs cluster, a long-lasting barrier so they don't settle in and crawl inside.

STEP 3

Foundation & Entry-Point Barrier

We treat around the foundation, windows, doors, and utility penetrations, the highways these pests use to slip into your walls.

STEP 4

Exclusion & Sealing Guidance

We point out and help seal the gaps around windows, soffits, and vents that let overwintering pests in, the step that prevents next year's problem.

STEP 5

Interior Treatment (As Needed)

For bugs that already made it inside, we apply eco-friendly, family-safe product along baseboards, window frames, and wall voids where they hide.

STEP 6

Seasonal Timing & Monitoring

We time treatments to late summer and early fall, before they cluster, and monitor through the season so your walls stay bug-free.

Every fall our south wall would be covered in box elder bugs and they'd get inside. Green Gator treated early this year and the difference is night and day.

Cody walked the whole house, treated the eaves and walls, and showed us where they were sneaking in. Way fewer bugs this season. Great crew.

Frequently Asked Questions

Box Elder Bug control questions, answered.

Is the treatment safe for kids and pets?

Absolutely. Every product we use is eco-friendly and chosen specifically for family and pet safety. Most of the work happens on the exterior of your home where the bugs gather. Kids and pets can return to treated areas once the product has dried, usually within 30-60 minutes.

When is the best time to treat for box elder bugs?

Late summer and early fall, before they cluster on your walls and head indoors to overwinter. Treating the exterior at the right time is the single biggest factor in stopping the invasion. If they're already inside the walls, we'll treat what we can and set you up to prevent it next year.

Can you get rid of the bugs already inside my walls?

Once they're overwintering deep in wall voids, there's no clean way to reach all of them, vacuuming up the few that emerge is usually the move. The real fix is exterior treatment and sealing so next fall's wave never gets in. We'll handle the ones we can reach and build the plan to prevent the rest.

Do I need to remove my box elder or maple trees?

No. Nearby host trees do increase the pressure on your home, but you don't have to cut them down. A well-timed exterior barrier and good sealing keep the bugs off your house even with host trees close by.

What if they come back between visits?

That's what our free callback guarantee is for. If you see activity between scheduled services, just call and we'll come back at no extra charge. No questions asked.

What areas do you service?

We serve the entire Wasatch Front from Ogden to Spanish Fork, plus mountain communities including Park City and Heber City. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, just give us a call, chances are we do.
